According to the American Psychological Association, stress is extremely common among teenagers. In fact, most teens who responded to a recent survey say they are experiencing what they believe to be unhealthy levels of stress, especially during the school year.
What is stressing your teen the most? Many teens say school and their plans, or lack thereof, after high school is their number one source of stress. Other common reasons for stress include family problems, relationship issues or failing to succeed at sports.
It is normal for us all to have stress in our lives, and we can never fully avoid it. Unfortunately stress can lead teens to experiment with harmful substances like alcohol and drugs. As a parent you can help your teens to deal with stress in healthy ways.
